Double tragedy in Pasig

A retired policeman was killed after being accidentally shot by his bestfriend, who later committed suicide using the same gun following a drinking session the other day in Pasig City.
Alfredo Santana, 63, a former traffic policeman residing at 19 Jenny’s Avenue in Barangay Maybunga died while being rushed to the Mission Hospital after sustaining a bullet wound in his right shoulder.
His bestfriend Danilo Bernardo, 53, of Barangay Sta. Lucia, also died after shooting himself in the stomach with a caliber .38 caliber pistol.
Police investigation disclosed that the two men were having a drinking session with two other friends at Bernardo’s house around 3:30 p.m. As their friends were about to leave, a shot rang out from the gun being toyed with by Bernardo. They saw the retired policeman bloodied and gasping for breath.
As they were about to bring Santana to a nearby hospital, another shot was heard from the house. When they checked, they were shocked to find Bernardo lying lifeless with the gun in his hand. – Rainier Allan Ronda
