A haven for street kids to rise in QC

An ordinance which proposes the establishment of a care and rehabilitation center for street children was filed recently in the QC Legislative Council.

The project proponent, Councilor Resty B. Malangen, said that the project aims to prevent the proliferation of street children in Quezon City and provide a home for those who continue to roam the city’s streets.

Once established, the center will also provide food, recreational facilities and non-formal education training to street kids.

Pending the construction of the permanent location and facilities center, the city mayor may put up a suitable site for the purpose.

Malangen said the project will be funded by the city treasury but the project’s board of managers will be allowed to undertake fundraising activities, solicit assistance from government agencies and private entities and may also receive donations from foreign and domestic sources.<
