Palace assures justice for quadruplets

Malacañang assured yesterday the family of the quadruplets who died last week that there would be justice for the infants.

"Makakaasa ang pamilya nang namatayan ng mga bata na magkakaroon sila ng katarungan (The family will receive justice)," Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye said in an interview over RMN radio.

Bunye said the Department of Health (DOH) is now conducting an investigation to detemine whether hospital personnel were at fault for the death of the quadruplets.

The other day, President Arroyo visited the parents of the quadruplets to personally express her sympathy over the death of the infants.

Bunye said the law is very clear on the restriction on private hospitals from seeking a deposit from patients prior to admission, especially on emergency cases.

"If proven that the hospitals demanded deposit then the penalties provided under the law shall be applied," Bunye stressed. — Mayen Jaymalin
