1 dead, 2 hurt in Marikina road mishap

A three-year-old boy was killed while his pregnant mother and her live-in partner were seriously hurt when their vehicle slammed into a tree while avoiding a speeding owner-type jeep in Marikina City yesterday.
The victim, Jerremy Vincent Grame, was pinned in the front passenger seat of the their blue Mitsubishi Lancer (NRG-474) and died while being rushed to the Garcia General Hospital.
His mother, Maureen, 26, who is nine months pregnant, and Ferdinand Censon, 29, who was driving the vehicle are in serious condition at the St. Vincent Hospital.
Senior Superintendent Felipe Rojas Jr., Marikina City police chief said the driver of the jeep, Joselito Tiangco, 27, police of Barangay Sto. Nino, surrendered after the incident. Tiangco is currently detained at the city police detention center.
Police prober SPO1 Rizal Picayo said the family was on its way home when the accident occurred at about 1:10 a.m. yesterday along Molave street in Barangay Marikina Heights.
Picayo said Censon was startled when the speeding jeep suddenly appeared toward them, prompting him to swerve the vehicle to the right.
Witnesses told Picayo, that the Lancer hit a concrete wall before ramming into a tree by the side of the road.
Responding barangay watchmen rushed the victims to the hospital.
Rojas said Tiangco will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and frustrated homicide before the city prosecutors office today. Non Alquitran
