Man electrocuted atop Meralco post
July 17, 2003 | 12:00am
A truck helper was electrocuted while trying to make an illegal connection to a Meralco post in Binondo, Manila before dawn yesterday.
Police said the victim Alberto Mondido, 38, of 620 Valderama street, Binondo, Manila was declared dead on arrival at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Hospital.
SPO1 David Tuazon of the Western Police District (WPD) Homicide Division said witnesses noticed Mondido climbing a Meralco post near the corner of Del Pan and Lavesarez streets at around 2 a.m. Mondido was armed with pliers and a cutter, they claimed.
Once he was on top, Mondido peeled off one of the electric cables, presumably to make an illegal connection.
"He must have accidentally touched a live wire and got electrocuted, then fell to the pavement," Tuazon said. Cecille Suerte Felipe
