A medical representative was stabbed dead by a bicycle-riding man in Makati City on Saturday night, police said.
Antonio Elpides, 29, of Amparo Tiger Street, Barangay Rizal, Makati City, died while undergoing treatment at the Ospital ng Maynila.
Police records showed Elpides sustained two stab wounds in the back.
The suspect, identified only as Rodel, reportedly got off his bicycle in front of a mini-store on 22nd Avenue, East Rembo and attacked the victim. A witness said the suspect casually rode his bike and pedalled off from the crime scene.
SPO4 Leonardo Timtiman, chief of the homicide division, said the victims family apparently knew the suspect. Elpides mother told police investigators the suspect was a spurned suitor of her daughter.
"This was just a background information the victims mother gave us. It is not necessarily the motive. There could still be another reason for the killing," Timtiman said. The Makati police are now doing follow-up operations. Nikko Dizon
