Teener hurt by falling signboard

A 14-year-old student is in serious condition at a Caloocan hospital after a signboard made of iron metal fell on him as he passed by a bus terminal compound yesterday in the city.
Victim Leomar Sevilla, a second year high school student of the Navotas High School and a resident of Navotas, was taken to the Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital by police and men of the Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (DPSTM).
The victim sustained several head injuries, contusions and broken bones in the body.
Witnesses told probers that at 4 p.m., a sudden gust of strong wind toppled the one-meter by three-meter iron signboard.
The signboard welded on two iron posts located at the entrance of the bus terminal facing the Gotesco Grand Central Mall along Rizal Avenue Extension in Caloocan City. Sevilla was passing by when he was hit by the heavy signboard.
Police said bus company officials have coordinated with the family of the victim reportedly promising to give assistance to the teener. Jerry Botial
