Public warned vs fastfood scam artist

-
Jollibee Foods Corp. has warned the public against individuals who go from door to door persuading parents to enroll their children in the Jollibee Superkids Club for a nominal fee.

Claro Certeza, Jollibee vice president for corporate affairs, said the company does not authorize any such door-to-door recruitment for the Superkids Club.

The warning came after Jollibee received reports that an unscrupulous individual, posing as an employee of the fastfood chain, has victimized several parents. This person, in a Jollibee uniform, goes from house to house duping parents to pay P200 supposedly as membership fee for the club. The impostor, said to be operating in Caloocan City and Quezon City, also promises unsuspecting parents that they will be given P2,000 worth of Jollibee certificates every year until their children turns 15 years old.

Certeza said Jollibee does not send out its employees to collect payment for membership in the club. All payments must be made to Jollibee outlets only.

Two years ago, a man with the same modus operandi was caught by barangay officials in Cubao, Quezon City after a parent, suspicious of the authenticity of the man’s offer, inquired at a nearby Jollibee outlet. Confiscated from the man were an outdated Jollibee uniform and pin, a fake identification card, as well as fake Superkids Club membership cards.

Jollibee seeks the support of the general public by refusing to deal with these individuals and reporting them to the Jollibee Corporate Affairs Office at 688-7177 or 688-7074.
