June 23, 2003 | 12:00am
The house of a son of Quezon Rep. Lynette Punzalan was peppered with bullets at dawn yesterday by still unidentified men in Las Piñas City.
Fortunately, no one was hurt as Punzalans son Carlos and the lady lawmaker herself were not around during the incident.
Initial investigation showed that the shooting took place at around 1:17 a.m. at 102 C.M. Recto St., Executive Triangle, BF Homes, Almanza I, Las Piñas.
According to police, seven to nine successive gunshots were heard and the attackers positioned themselves at the adjacent Pilar Executive Village at the back of Carlos house.
PO1 Teoson Rosarito said the suspects hit the masters bedroom on the second floor of the house where three bullet holes on its French window and two other bullet marks on its concrete wall were found.
Rosario and members of the SWAT team who responded to the scene also recovered a deformed slug of still unknown caliber.
Police reports revealed that Carlos only knew of the incident from his house detailed security guard identified as Ronnie Diaz.
Diaz said he was posted at the back portion of the house when he suddenly heard gunshots and falling pieces of glass from the window, which prompted him to hide.
Immediately after, Diaz told investigators he heard a car from Laurel Road of Pilar Executive speeding towards the Zapote-Alabang gate of the village.
In a follow-up investigation at the adjacent village, police found tiremarks on a vacant lot which was 40 meters away from Carlos house, indicating the veracity of Diazs testimony.
But no crime material nor empty spent shells were recovered from the area.
Further investigation revealed that Pilar Executive security guards Martin Doquillo and Roderick Pagaran detailed at the Laurel gate affirmed the presence of a car parked momentarily at the vacant lot.
The village security guards told investigators they noticed a man immediately alighted from the vehicle and subsequently heard gunfires supposedly from a short firearm.
Doquillo and Pagaran claimed that before they could react the car sped away towards the Alabang-Zapote gate. However, they were not able to get the plate number of the vehicle due to darkness and heavy downpour.
Police is now conducting further investigation on the case that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the shooting.
