Fire razes apartment building in Malate

A fire razed an apartment building Monday night in Malate, Manila.
No fatalities and injuries were reported in the incident that destroyed a 15-door, two-story apartment reportedly owned by one Leonora Cruz, and located at Singalong Street, Malate.
Damage to property was placed at an estimated P1.5 million.
Initial investigation showed the fire started at apartment unit 2242-K, said to be occupied by one Shewani Pradeet, an Indian national, said Fire Officer 1 Jun Pangan.
The fire reportedly originated from the ceiling on the second floor of Pradeets unit.
Neighbors noticed smoke coming from the apartment unit shortly before 7 p.m. The fire lasted an hour. A fire-out was declared at 8:09 p.m.
Some of the apartment units were razed to the ground while others were partially burned.
