A jobless man was arrested the other day for terrorizing his mother and neighbors with improvised bolos, bows and arrows in Taguig.
Authorities identified the suspect as Roel Bupite, 36, of Sitio Imelda, Barangay Upper Bicutan.
Police seized 11 pairs of bows and arrows, two long bolos, and a long spear, all of which Bupite made in his house, said case investigator Police Officer 2 Junere Obico.
Investigation showed that terrorizing his own mother and the entire neighborhood has been a hobby of sorts of Bupite, as well as crafting his own bladed weapons, Obico said.
Sheer terror prevented the old woman and her neighbors from reporting Bupite to the police.
Last Tuesday, at around 4:30 p.m., Bupite went on a terrorizing frenzy once again. For unknown reasons, he ran amuck in the street and threatened everyone in sight.
Finally, his neighbors sought the help of barangay tanods, who tried to pacify Bupite
The suspect initially refused to surrender and warded off the tanods with his deadly weapons. But eventually gave himself up, perhaps out of sheer exhaustion.
