QC gov’t turns over 42 vans to barangays

As part of efforts to effectively deliver basic services to the communities, Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. turned over to barangay leaders yesterday some 42 vans, the first batch of the 142 units intended for the city’s barangays.

Belmonte said the service vehicles will make barangay tanods more effective in helping police maintain peace and order in their localities.

The yellow carry-all vans, which sport the "Serbisyong Bayan" motto of the city government will also be used in the delivery of basic services and can be tapped to respond to any emergency.

"This vehicles are part and parcel of the effort of the Quezon City government to accord the residents the value of their money," Belmonte said.

He said the city government wants to give taxpayers value for their money in the form of better services.

"People deserve to get back their hard-earned money," Belmonte told city hall employees and barangay officials.

The mayor said the project is both timely and complementary to the city government’s intensified drive against lawless elements, illegal dumping of wastes in creeks, drug abuse and illegal squatting in the barangays.
