Clean-up drive vs SARS in Pasig

Pasig City Mayor Soledad Eusebio and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod led simultaneous clean-up operations at the Mutya ng Pasig Public Market, public schools and in 30 barangays to battle the dreaded Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Eusebio said cleaning the surroundings and maintaining personal hygiene are effective ways of fighting the spread of the disease.
She also issued Executive Order 03 creating the Pasig City Task Force on SARS and the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHRT) in every barangays of the city.
Eusebio ordered the application of disinfectant, defogging and declogging of canals and waterways near public school buildings in the city to ensure they are clean and safe in time for the opening of classes in June.
"We can minimize the risk of SARS in our community by cleaning and applying disinfectants in our surroundings regularly and by immediately reporting to the city health officers if manifesting symptoms of SARS," the mayor said.
Eusebio added that the city has launched a massive information campaign against SARS through the distribution of posters in barangays and posting them in strategic places in the city. The posters contain information on SARS symptoms , prevention and numbers to be contacted in case of an emergency.
The Pasig City General Hospital has also been alerted to be on constant lookout against probable SARS patients and to immediately report this to proper authorities.
