Cop shot by colleague

A rookie policeman is now in critical condition after he was shot in Quezon City after midnight yesterday by a colleague who was reportedly under the influence of drugs. Victim PO1 Oliver Cansio, 32, assigned to the Central Police District-Station 11, suffered bullet wounds in the body and legs and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Chinese General Hospital. The suspect, PO1 Giovanni Tabirao, 25, a member of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), is now under police custody. He is awaiting proper charges to be filed against him.
Police sources said that Tabirao was under the influence of drugs when he came across Cansio, who was responding to an alleged stabbing incident along Araneta Avenue at around 2 a.m. Witnesses said they saw Tabirao pull out his firearm and shot the victim repeatedly in the abdomen and legs. The wounded Cansio fell off his motorcycle and rolled over to a nearby tree. Matthew Estabillo
