Pedicab driver stabbed to death

A fight over a passenger resulted in murder yesterday after one pedicab driver stabbed dead another after they crossed path again in San Andres, Manila.

The victim identified only as Anthony was declared dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Maynila for a stab wound in the chest inflicted by the still unnamed suspect. Both suspect and victim are said to be pedicab drivers in the San Andres area.

Investigation by the Western Police District (WPD) homicide unit showed the killing happened at about 5 a.m. while the victim was sleeping on a bench at a wake on Onyx Street, San Andres. Investigators said unconfirmed reports show that prior to the incident the two had a scramble for a passenger, with the victim winning out. The suspect allegedly resented this.

The suspect, who remains at large, was described as about 5’4" in height but no witness could positively identify him. – Jose Aravilla
