Some P7 million worth of property went up in smoke while about 90 families were rendered homeless after a fire razed 30 houses in Sta. Ana, Manila yesterday.
No one was reported injured or killed, according to investigator-on-case F03 Wilson Tana. "The fire hit 30 houses, with each house occupied by as many as three families. We are still looking into the cause of the fire."
Arson investigators said the fire started at a two-story house on Callejon 777, Pasig Line, Sta. Ana at 6:10 a.m. and then spread to nearby houses. The fire reached Task Force Alpha before responding firefighters put it out at 8:02 a.m.
Tana said investigators are now verifying claims by some neighbors that the fire was caused by an unattended gas stove in one of the houses. Cecille Suerte Felipe
