2 Crame-based cops nabbed for firing guns

- Pete Laude -
Two Camp Crame senior police officers are now in hot water after they were arrested by fellow law enforcers together with a trader for allegedly firing their guns deliberately while on a Black Saturday drinking bout in Caloocan City.

SPO3 Cesar Homrubia, assigned at the Traffic Management Group (TMG), SPO2 Jesus Ametin Jr., detailed at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and one Orly Custodio, 34, of 2 Tanguile street, Protatad, Mutual Homes, Muntinlupa City, were arrested by the Caloocan City police Special Weapons and Tactics operatives at around 5 p.m.

Police sources said that Homrubia and his neighbor Custodio were visiting Ametin at the latter’s residence at Phase 10, Package 10, Block 9, Lot 9, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City when they decided to go to Franville Subdivision, Bgy. 175 in Camarin where they reportedly engaged in a drinking spree. In the middle of the drinking session, the suspects allegedly fired their guns indiscriminately in the air. Alarmed residents called for police assistance.

A SWAT team led by SPO1 Edgardo Meriales immediately swooped down in the area resulting to the arrest of the two cops and their companion.

The SWAT men seized from Homrubia, Ametin and Custodio three handguns – a caliber .45 pistol, two caliber .38 revolvers, seven bullets for a .45 pistol and eight live bullets and four spent shells for a caliber .38 revolver.

Charges were being readied yesterday against the three suspects who were all detained at the Caloocan City Hall North Police Detachment.
