Pasig plant closed

-
Pasig City Mayor Soledad Eusebio has ordered the temporary closure of a plant that makes vinyl and paste products pending an investigation on a recent incident of mass poisoning.

One of 300 residents of Bagong Ilog in Pasig City who were rushed to the hospital last Sunday died the other day after inhaling toxic fumes allegedly coming from a broken tank of R.I. Chemicals Corp.

The victim, Luciano Verjes, 68, died at the Immaculate Hospital where he was rushed by relatives after he complained of dizziness.

City Health officers have declared a danger zone within a 800-meter radius from the plant. Eusebio has dispatched a team of doctors and nurses to the area to check the conditions of residents living near the plant. – Non Alquitran
