Operatives of the Western Police District (WPD) arrested a trader for keeping almost a kilo of shabu with a street value of P2 million inside an Ermita hotel Friday night.
Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo Jr., chief of the WPD-Drug Enforcement Group, identified the suspect as Jun Pangyarihan, 40, of 1557 M. Noval street, Tangos, Navotas.
Pedrozo said Pangyarihan was arrested in a raid at Room 616 of the Golden Bay Hotel on Padre Faura street, Ermita at 11 p.m. Police recovered a plastic bag containing a half-kilo of shabu. The search then yielded four more plastic packs, each containing 100 grams of the illegal substance hidden under the bed covers.
Prior to the arrest, Pangyarihan had been under surveillance for at least a month following reports that the suspect was engaged in illegal activities.
When interrogated by police, Pangyarihan denied any knowledge of the illegal drugs link. Cecile Suerte Felipe
