Tighter security at US Embassy
March 22, 2003 | 12:00am
Security at the US Embassy was further tightened as various militant groups simultaneously staged rallies in protest to the ongoing US-led war on Iraq.
At around noon yesterday, a portion of the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard was closed to traffic after 250 rallyists camped near T.M. Kalaw street in Ermita, Manila.
Holding placards and streamers, rallyists denounced President Arroyo and US President George W. Bush for the ongoing war by the US on Iraq.
Another group of protesters from the Kilusang Mayo Uno, Anakpawis and Pamalakaya camped at Plaza Salamanca, but were prevented by members of the Western Police District-Station 5, which has jurisdiction over the area. Cecille Suerte Felipe
