Deadly rewinder
March 21, 2003 | 12:00am
A 37-year-old woman was killed while her husband and daughter were injured after a VHS rewinder they borrowed from a neighbor exploded inside their house the other day in Quezon City.
Victim Nenita Lobregado, a housewife, of 472 Tabigo street, Barangay Commonwealth, suffered fatal wounds in the body caused by the blast. She was declared dead on arrival at the East Avenue Medical Center.
Her husband Lemuel, 37, and their daughter Jacel, 8, also sustained gashes and bruises. They are currently receiving treatment at the New Era Hospital.
Investigation showed that Lemuel borrowed the rewinder from their neighbor, Noel Oldina.
At about 4:45 p.m. Nenita plugged the rewinder to an electrical outlet. A few minutes later, the rewinder exploded and the fragments hit the family.
Oldina has been detained at the Central Police District headquarters for questioning. Authorities are still mulling whether to file charges against him. Matthew Estabillo
