2 recruiters busted in Caloocan

-
Two suspected illegal recruiters were arrested by the police in an entrapment operation inside a fastfood restaurant in Grace Park, Caloocan City.

Caloocan City police chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele identified the suspects as Paulina Salvador, 32; and Danilo Calma, 46, both natives of Nueva Ecija and currently residing at 188, 2nd Avenue, Caloocan City.

During a press conference at Camp Crame yesterday, presided over by Metro police chief Deputy Director General Reynaldo Velasco, Mantele said Calma and Salvador were arrested in an operation inside the Jollibee foodchain branch located along Rizal Avenue Extension, Grace Park Caloocan about 2 p.m. last Tuesday.

Prior the entrapment operation, eight victims, led by Maria Lara Pizarro lodged a complaint to Senior Inspector Eladio de Leon, chief of the Station Intelligence and Investigation Division (SIID) of Caloocan City Police Sub-Station 2, against the suspects for duping them of thousand of pesos in exchange for employment abroad.

Pizarro, in her complaint, claimed Calma and Salvador initially asked her and other victims of about P3,500 each for training fees for overseas jobs as roomboys and chambermaids in Saipan. They were also promised monthly salaries of $1,000 each.

Each of them also paid additional fees ranging from P15,000 to P60,000 in job placement fees for Saipan. Christina Mendez, Jerry Botial
