Construction worker dies after falling from 5th level of building

-
A construction worker was killed instantly after falling from the fifth floor of a building in the central business district of Makati City yesterday.

Erwin Boter, 24, a resident of Muntinlupa City died while being transported to the Makati Medical Center as a result of his injuries.

Based on the report of the Makati City police, the incident took place at around 9:30 a.m. at the fifth level of a construction site located along the Shoemart Hotel Drive inside the Ayala Center in Makati City.

Investigation showed that the victim along with his co-workers were moving a steel beam using a pulley when they suddenly lost control of the rope. Boter was unable to react and was pulled up by the rope he was holding. His head hit the ceiling and on his way down, the rope caught part of his body and dragged him all the way down the building along with the steel beam. Boter landed hard on the pavement and suffered several broken bones and severe loss of blood.

An investigation is being conducted to determine whether there was foul play involved and to see whether the contractor could be held accountable if it was an accident. Marvin Sy
