Records identified the fatality as Chris Estepa, 40, and the injured as Benjamin Locape. The report, however, did not mention the cause of the victim’s death and injury.
Initial investigation showed the fire started at 11:46 p.m. reportedly at the house of one Junior Canbaleng located on 14th Avenue, Barangay East Rembo.
Witnesses told authorities that the fire was caused by a lighted candle. The fire, which reached the first alarm, destroyed 13 shanties and an estimated P100,000 worth of properties. – Nikko Dizon
