34 housing projects underway

- Pia Lee-Brago -
The National Housing Authority (NHA) is set to implement 34 housing projects this year, intended for 52,307 families to be affected by the government’s infrastructure development programs.

NHA General Manager Edgardo Pamintuan said the NHA has lined up the delivery of housing units, lots, resettlement assistance, and other housing packages to deserving beneficiaries.

The projects scheduled for implementation this year are in the Southrail, Northrail, and Camanava Flood Control and Resettlement Assistance to Local Government Units, Slum Upgrading, Sites and Services, Core Housing and Medium Rise Housing.

Based on NHA records, project demand for the current year is estimated at 34, which translates to 52,307 units.

Under the work program, 28,948 families from Caloocan, Manila, Muntinlupa and Taguig will be covered by NHA’s medium rise housing projects while 5,200 families from Parañaque, Muntinlupa, and Makati will benefit from house and lot packages.

"NHA has been continuously working in pursuit of its mandate to provide decent housing to every Filipino family, the reason why the agency has directed all its efforts in implementing programs to help cope with the increasing housing demand, Pamintuan said.

He added that 4,570 families will be provided with resettlement assistance, 2,331 families will benefit from slum upgrading services, 4,428 families will be covered by site and services programs and 560 families will benefit from core housing projects.
