QC to re-route traffic

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has directed Manuel Sabalza, head of the citys Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) to deploy additional traffic enforcers during the culmination of "Kulturang Kalye 2003" festivities on Feb. 23.
Visayas Avenue is again playing host to this years program and will be closed to traffic. The roads north and southbound lanes from Lands street to Road I will be closed as early as 6 a.m. up to midnight of Feb. 23.
About 50 traffic enforcers, to work on two shifts, will be deployed by the city government to maintain smooth traffic flow for the duration of the program, in close coordination with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Central Traffic Engineering Group and the barangays.
A traffic re-routing scheme has been prepared by the DPOS to ensure the orderly movement of vehicles that will be affected by the event.
For private and public vehicles going to Tandang Sora, motorists are advised to take Lands and Fisheries streets before exiting at Visayas Avenue.Trucks are barred from entering Visayas Avenue and are advised to take Mindanao Avenue.
"Kulturang Kalye 2003," which kicked off last Feb. 1 at the QC Hall Plaza, is this years main feature for the celebration of National Arts Month this February, with the theme, "Bahagharing Kalinangan: Diversity in Culture."
The activity hopes to make a contribution in making the city the countrys cultural and entertainment capital and center for arts and culture for the masses.
