Fire victims receive financial assistance

-
About 30 families who lost their homes in separate fire incidents in Las Piñas City have received help from Mayor Vergel Aguilar, who promised to rehabilitate the affected communities.

Last week, some 200 homes at T.S. Cruz Subdivision, Barangay Almanza Dos, were razed by fire due to faulty electrical wiring based on the finding by SFO4 Regalado Manahan of the city fire department.

Last year, 90 families in nearby Barangay Ilaya also lost their homes in a fire caused by an unattended candle.

Aguilar said the fire victims will receive financial assistance – P5,000 for legitimate homeowners and P2,000 to the lessee families.

City DSWD chief Junette Barilla said that the families have been given clothes, grocery packs and medical treatment.

Aguilar assured residents of the New Balete Compound that his administration will rehabilitate their community as he directed the City Urban Poor Affairs Office to fast- track the on-site development plan and the awarding of land certificates through the Community Mortgage Program.

Under the plan, the city government will provide the basic infrastructures such as roads, drainage systems, electricity, water, recreational areas, health and day-care centers among others.
