The Quezon City government is drafting a master plan that will transform the city into a Garden City involving the Elliptical Circle as the focal point.
The local government also plans to build a nature-oriented recreational park in the La Mesa Dam area as well as develop other parks in the Balara Filter area.
Landscaped walkways and biking areas throughout Quezon City are being eyed under the plan to take advantage of the relatively low-cost, but high-impact value of plants and greenery in terms of visual improvement.
The local government has surveyed 205 open spaces owned by the city, 30 of which can be developed into parks. The Quezon City government is pushing to make open spaces clean, verdant breathing areas unencumbered by structures. Pia Lee-Brago
