Makati honors top citizens

The city government of Makati will confer on Monday the "Gawad Lakan Tagkan" award of merit to five outstanding citizens for their invaluable contributions in promoting development, social responsibility, professional journalism, arts and culture in the countrys financial capital.
The award, named after Lakan Tagkan, the pre-colonial ruler of the vast kingdom of Nanayan where Makati used to be part of. Awardees are Regina Lopez (social service), Antonio Cabangon-Chua (media and public affairs), Francisco Licunanan III (business) and the late national artists Leandro Locsin (architecture) and Lucio San Pedro (music).
The award ceremony will be held tomorrow at the session hall of the new Makati City Hall.
