More developmental projects eyed in Manila

Manila Mayor Lito Atienza has vowed to carry out more development programs to make the city one of the top tourist destinations in the country.

While year 2002 has been very productive in the country’s capital, Atienza plans to implement more projects in the city, similar to those along Roxas Boulevard and other parks.

Rajah Sulayman Park, Plaza Moriones, Plaza Dilaw, Liwasang Bonifacio (formerly Lawton), Lacson Underpass and Plaza Miranda, have been attracting both foreign and local tourists.

At the Rajah Sulayman Park and Liwasang Bonifacio, visitors can unwind by just listening to music while watching the dancing fountains.

"We embarked on these development efforts precisely to give our people the confidence in themselves and believe in our collective ability to introduce meaningful changes," Atienza noted.

The mayor expressed belief that Filipinos can overcome problems "if we will set aside our differences and do our share, no matter how small, in the national effort to achieve genuine peace and prosperity in our land." Cecille Suerte Felipe
