2 hurt in backyard blast

An employee of flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) and his wife were injured after an unidentified man lobbed a grenade at their backyard Monday night in Muntinlupa City.
The victims were identified as Generoso Ignacio, 54, a PAL technical training supervisor, and his wife, Alicia, 53.
Initial investigation showed the incident happened at around 11:20 p.m. at the couples house located on Hi-Point street, Diamond Park, Victoria Homes, Barangay Tunasan.
Police investigators said the victims were doing the laundry at their backyard when someone suddenly lobbed a grenade in their direction.
The couple suffered injuries from the grenade shrapnel.
Responding policemen recovered the safety lever of the grenade, shrapnel, and a ladder placed against the wall.
Authorities are still conducting follow-up investigations to determine the identity of the grenade thrower and the possible motive.
