Taxi, van collide in Makati: 1 dead, 9 hurt

One person was killed while nine others were hurt when a van and a taxi cab collided yesterday morning in Makati City.
The Southern Police District-Traffic Enforcement Unit said the incident took place at around 4 a.m. at the intersection of Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue and the South Superhighway.
SPO3 Mardie Domingo of the SPD-TEU identified those hurt as Jupiter Garcia, Trixia-Joy Terania, Moriel Terania, Noel Cesar, Alexander Tolentino, Annielyn Cesar, Viviana Dacara, Jennifer Cesar and a certain Maribeth.
The lone fatality, the driver of the Kia Besta Van, was not identified.
Based on the investigation of the police, the Besta Van (WZY-960) and the taxi (WBA-275) collided head-on. The driver was crushed between his seat and the steering wheel.
Garcia, who was driving the taxi, along with his lone passenger and the eight others on board the van, were rushed to the Makati Medical Center for treatment.
