Special day in Pasay City
December 1, 2002 | 12:00am
Pasay City Mayor Wenceslao "Peewee" Trinidad has announced that Malacañang issued Proclamation No. 295 declaring tomorrow a special day in Pasay City. Dec. 2 marks the 139th Foundation Day anniversary of the city.
Trinidad lauded the proclamation of the President, saying the Chief Executive has given Pasay residents an opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.
The mayor reiterated that this years celebration is remarkably significant as the city just received the Galing Pook Award for its flagship program Bayanihan Banking System.
The Gawad Galing Pook 2002 is a pioneering awards program on innovation and excellence in local governance. Under the Bayanihan Banking Program, small groups consisting of 26 to 30 beneficiaries set up their "financial centers" for the purpose of providing emergency funds out of the savings pledged by the members.
Apart from credit lines, members are also entitled to accident insurance benefits. Pasay City was the only winner from the National Capital Region in this years selection.
