P50,000 for Intramuros hit

-
The alleged gunman in Monday’s shooting incident in Intramuros, Manila that left two persons dead and another injured has admitted being paid P50,000 to do the job.

According to Western Police District homicide detective Ed Paterno, the suspect, 22-year-old Usof Kamid, said he was paid by his cousin Joel Kamid to shoot and kill Arman Makapeges, 45; his brother Jamal Makapeges, 38; and their friend Felix Lidasan, 40.

Jamal Makapeges, who is still recuperating at the Ospital ng Maynila with gunshot wound in the stomach, is a former provincial board member of Maguindanao, the WPD said.

When questioned, Kamid said he did not personally know the victims and was hired by Joel to kill them, police said.

Paterno said Kamid, a farmer in Cotobato City, arrived in Manila with a cousin a week before the shooting. They stayed at the Maharlika Village in Taguig.

The cousin remains at large after WPD policemen failed to find him at Maharlika Village.

Kamid faces two counts of murder, one count of frustrated murder and illegal possession of a firearm for the unlicensed caliber .45 pistol seized from him.

Shortly after his arrest, Kamid told police that he shot the victims because of a long-standing feud between his family and those of his victims. Mike Frialde
