Police shot dead yesterday morning a 45-year-old man during a high-speed car-chase and arrested two others after the men robbed a woman in Cubao, Quezon City.
Police identified the fatality only as a certain "Tootsie" a long-haired and bearded man. He sustained a single bullet wound in the head and died on the spot. His cohorts were identified as Virgilio Brazil, 35, and Raul Ocampo, 36. Both are in police custody. Confiscated from the suspects were two .38 caliber revolvers and a bladed weapon.
Reports showed that the three suspects robbed a certain Marie Dumagdag, 26, along Domingo Street in front of Regalla Building in Cubao at about 6 a.m.
The gunmen were on board a reportedly stolen Red Toyota Corona (NCY-627). One of them alighted and forcefully took Dumagdags cellular phone at gunpoint and the car sped-off afterwards.
Dumagdag shouted for help as a mobile patrol unit led by Inspector Restituto Pangusbon arrived and went after the fleeing suspects. A high-speed chase ensued which took the policemen and the robbers from P. Tuazon Boulevard up to Sixto Antonio Ave., in Pasig City.
During the chase, both parties exchanged gunfire as the pursuit came to an end when Tootsie got shot in the right side of the head.
