Monumento Circle off limits to buses

-
The Caloocan City government, in an effort to decongest traffic at the vicinity of the Bonifacio Monument Circle (BMC), restricted passenger buses in the area beginning yesterday.

On orders of Mayor Reynaldo Malonzo, buses are no longer allowed to pass through the BMC in Caloocan City en route to Malabon City and Cubao in Quezon City or vise versa.

SPO3 Jesus Valenzuela of the city traffic police said buses from Cubao must turn right from EDSA to MacArthur Highway and then turn left to Bautista Avenue passing Malabon Zoo toward A. de Jesus Street, exiting through Samson Road and then right to Sangandaan en route to Letre Road terminal in Malabon City.

In going back to Cubao, buses must take the Dagat-Dagatan Avenue, left to C-3 Road going to 5th Avenue crossing Rizal Avenue Extension and then left to B. Serrano Street exiting through EDSA.

During a trial yesterday, traffic along A. Mabini Street going to C-3 Road was heavy.

But Malonzo said it was expected. After drivers and commuters get used to the new scheme, traffic will improve, he said. Pete Laude
