Cops probe death leap

-
Suicide or foul play?

Mandaluyong City police are now investigating the death of a 62-year-old man who fell from the elevated parking lot of the SM Megamall in the city yesterday.

Chief Inspector Godofredo Velasco, head of the Police Community Precinct 4, identified the fatality as Henry Cueyeh, married, and of 21 L. Albert Street, San Juan, Metro Manila. Cueyeh died while being treated at the Medical City due to severe head and body injuries.

Mall shoppers and security personnel were horrified when they heard loud thud and saw a man sprawled on the ground floor of SM Megamall Building A at around 11 a.m.

Police said Cueyeh fell from the second floor of the parking lot. However, nobody noticed if the victim had jumped intentionally or had been pushed to his death.

"We are looking at all angles and motives. The initial report was suicide, but we are not discounting the possibility of a foul play. We are investigating this thoroughly," Velasco said. – Sheila Crisostomo
