Bold star’s flyover stunt irks mayor

For running atop the EDSA crossing flyover in Mandaluyong City clad only in a bikini, bold star Diana Zubiri is now in hot water.

Zubiri’s photo session snarled traffic on the flyover Tuesday afternoon, which eventually reached the attention of Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr.

An irked Abalos ordered yesterday the filing of grave scandal charges against the actress for violating an agreement stipulated in a permit issued to her group by the city government.

Odette Galino, public information officer of Mandaluyong City, said Zubiri’s group applied for a mayor’s permit to hold a flyover pictorial for a popular men’s magazine.

Abalos gave his nod on condition that the actress would wear short pants and a blouse, Galino said.

Zubiri’s group agreed to the request, Galino pointed out.

But when the shooting started Tuesday, the agreement with Abalos was ignored and the bold star was told to run atop the flyover in a bikini.

Hundreds of curious pedestrians gathered around the flyover to catch a glimpse of the sexy star. Traffic came to a halt as motorists also joined in the ogling.

Mandaluyong officials said the mayor ordered the filing of charges against Zubiri apparently to teach her a lesson.

Zubiri was charged with grave scandal before Prosecutor Esteban Tacla of the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office at 10:45 a.m. yesterday, Galino said. – Non Alquitran
