Some P10-million in property and materials went up in smoke yesterday when a warehouse of a local rubber tire distributor was razed by a fire in Caloocan City.
Chief Inspector Agapito Nacario, Caloocan City fire marshal, said the warehouse was owned by Jefferson Marketing, located at the corner of A. del Mundo Street and 9th Avenue, near Caloocan City Police Sub-Station 2.
The fire was first noticed at around 5:28 a.m. Romeo Geraldino, 46, an employee of the firm, smelled burning rubber and went down to investigate. He found thick smoke near the press machine and quickly called the fire station.
Responding firefighters from the Caloocan City Fire Station and nearby cities of Camanava prevented the blaze from spreading to houses near the warehouse. Jerry Botial
