One man tagged in OMA slays

Police said yesterday that the arrested suspect in the killing of the finance project manager of the Office of Muslim Affairs (OMA) the other day in Quezon City was also responsible for the death of an the OMA deputy executive director last month.

Investigators said alleged gunman Andiong Adas, 27, of Balingayong, Davao City, is now detained at the Central Police District headquarters awaiting the filing of murder charges.

Sources said Adas is responsible for the slaying of OMA project manager Nasser Baharan, 44, and OMA deputy director Kharis Mikunog, 52. Both were killed inside their cars after leaving their offices.

A caliber .45 pistol was recovered from Adas.

"The most probable motive has to do with OMA’s multi-million budget. Adas may have been ordered to carry out the crime simply because of money," the police source told The Star in an interview.

At the same time, authorities gave assurance that there will be "more arrests" in the upcoming days or weeks. Three of his alleged cohorts are still at large.

Baharan was shot inside his Nissan Sentra at about 4 p.m. at the corner of Araneta Avenue and Kitanlad Street in Barangay Tatalon near the OMA office. – Matthew Estabillo
