Elements of the Philippine National Police-Intelligence Group and the Police Anti-Crime Emergency Response (PACER) rescued unharmed in Cubao, Quezon City yesterday a one-year-old girl abducted by her yaya (nanny) last Thursday.
Police said kidnapping charges will be slapped on Alma Mendoza and cohort Rose de Castro for the kidnapping of Thea Peñaflorida. Mendoza, who worked for the family, allegedly demanded P50,000 for the release of the child.
The two suspects were collared by the police operatives shortly after they received P50,000 from a representative of the victims family.
Police set-up the entrapment operation against the suspects shortly after the girls mother, Maria Leonora, sought the help of the police.
Mendoza, who also uses the alias Zenaida Pedro, has a pending case for the kidnapping of 10-month-old Van Angelo Manggallan in Echague, Isabela last Sept. 18. The suspect was able to successfully collect P50,000 from the victims parents. Christina Mendez
