Abalos meets with street gangs, frats

-
Promote good deeds and not gang war.

This was the message of Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos to 25 leaders of city-based fraternities and street gangs, whom he urged to stop carrying deadly weapons and end their violent ways.

In a meeting with the groups, Abalos asked them to make known their objectives and needs as he committed local government support, through the Manpower and Development Center, in giving them jobs.

"The city government is always ready to address your needs. To members who are out-of-school youths, I’ll find a way to give you sure jobs and skills training," he said.

Among those who showed up for the mayor’s first-ever dialogue with fraternities and gangs were leaders of the Tau Gamma Phi, Alpha Sigma Omega, Marshall Squad, Tres Cantos and Quatro Cantos. – Non Alquitran
