Rob suspect killed in Tondo

A suspected robber was shot dead after he engaged lawmen in a shootout in Tondo, Manila, yesterday.

Initial police reports identified the fatality as Domingo Sacdalan, 25, of Imus, Cavite.

Another suspect, Brosly Garable, 28, also of Cavite, is now undergoing interrogation after he was arrested. Police have launched a hunt for at least three more suspects who eluded arrest.

According to police reports, the robbery and shootout happened at about 10:30 a.m. at the "Rising Sun" rice dealership store located at 1532 Cavite corner Tomas Mapua Streets in Tondo, Manila.

Police said the robbers announced the heist as the store owner, whose name was not immediately given, was supervising the unloading of a rice delivery.

After announcing the heist, the robbers, who were armed with revolvers, took the P30,000 cash from the store owner. The commotion attracted the attention of Police Officer 2 Joel Nakpil of the Gagalangin Police Community Precinct (PCP) and chased the suspects.

A brief shootout then ensued after Nakpil managed to catch up with the suspects as they were boarding an owner-type jeep at the corner of Fidel and Cavite Streets. – Mike Frialde
