4 hurt in SLT mishap
September 9, 2002 | 12:00am
Four people were injured after a passenger bus lost its brakes at the height of yesterdays downpour and plowed into a sign post along the South Luzon Tollway (SLT).
The victim included the driver and three of his passengers, said Manny Prades, radio operator of the Philippine National Construction Co. (PNCC). However, their names were not immediately available but they were rushed to the South Superhighway Medical Center for treatment, Prades added.
Prades said the incident took place at around 12 noon on the northbound lane of the SLT right in front of the Novelty Phils., a garment firm.
The driver claimed that the vehicle (PYX 960) lost its brakes, causing it to swerve to the right and hit a sign post. The impact, Prades said, caused the post to fall on the parallel East Service Road.
The accident resulted in a huge traffic jam on the northbound lane of the SLT, reaching the Alabang viaduct, Prades said.
The bus was towed and the service road was cleared nearly an hour later. Nikko Dizon
