Suspects in German exec’s slay nabbed

-
Agents of the Central Police District Criminal Investigation Unit have nabbed two suspects in the gruesome murder of German executive Mirko Moeller, who was found bludgeoned inside his home in Corinthian Gardens in Quezon City last month.

CPD director Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Tor identified the suspects as Renato Cariño Gocong, 19, of Quezon City and Alvin Aquino Ragma, 20, of Sampaloc, Manila. They were arrested Tuesday evening in Baguio City.

On Aug. 29, Moeller, vice president of a consultancy firm, was found dead near the swimming pool of his rented house on Young Street, Corinthian Gardens.

The victim was gagged with an electrical cord and his feet were tied with a blue polo shirt believed to be the same shirt he was wearing before he was slain. The victim’s mobile phone, digital camera, and VCD player were stolen.

Three unidentified males were later seen on board the victim’s pink Nissan Sentra (USD-666).

On Sept. 3, a tipster told CPD detectives that the same suspects were spotted in Baguio City. Lawmen quickly proceeded north to track down the suspects. They later found the two suspects in Barangay Bagaquin.

Both were placed under arrest. Police found in their possession several items belonging to the victim.

The victim’s car was found abandoned by the police near a cemetery along Magsaysay Road, in Cordon, Isabela.

Charges of robbery with homicide and carnapping will be filed with the Prosecutor’s Office in Quezon City against the suspects who are now detained at the CPD jail. – Katherine Adraneda
