German exec bludgeoned inside Corinthians home

- Matthew Estabillo -
Lust and greed surround the death of a German national who was bludgeoned by three unidentified men inside his home in a posh subdivision in Quezon City.

The victim was identified as Mirko Moeller, 36, single, vice president of consultancy firm Soluziana Philippines and a resident of 11 Young Street, Corinthian Gardens.

House maid, Nena Vecenta, found Moeller dead near the swimming pool at about 7:30 a.m. The German was gagged with an electrical cord and his skull was broken after being clubbed with a dumbbell.

The three unidentified assailants fled on board the victim’s pink Nissan Exalta (USD-666) after the crime.

Police sources said the German national might have been involved with "unscrupulous individuals" during a night of lust. Investigators found sex toys scattered on the floor of his house.

Senior Inspector Rodolfo Jaraza, chief of the Central Police District Central Investigation Unit, said the victim’s mobile phone, digital camera, and VCD player were also stolen.

Initial reports showed that Moeller was last seen alive at 10 p.m. with the three men in his Nissan car as it entered the subdivision’s gate.

At about 1 a.m., the vehicle was seen leaving the victim’s house. Moeller was not among the car’s passengers.

Sources said a struggle ensued between the killers and the victim, based on the bloodstains found in his bedroom, the stairs, and the living room.

"The victim may have tried to fight back after he was attacked by the killers. He tried to run away and went to the poolside but when he reached the area, he was clubbed on the head. He died instantly," an investigator said.

Elements of the CPD are now conducting a follow-up investigation.
