1 dead, 2 hurt in shooting rampage

- Pete Laude -
A 27-year-old man was killed while two of his companions were seriously wounded after being sprayed with bullets by two drinking buddies in a heated altercation Wednesday night in Caloocan City.

Superintendent Dionicio Borromeo, chief of the Station Intelligence and Investigation Division, identified the fatality as Christopher Gonzales of 315 Lot 26-B, Champaca Street, Almar Subdivision, Camarin, Caloocan City.

His wounded companions were identified as Rafael Abrian, 25, of Block 12, Lot 264, North Matrixville, Camarin, and Lester Trillo, 24, of Almar Subdivision, Camarin.

Police are now hot on the trail of the suspects identified as Valentino Marcelo, 28, of 70-A, Reliance Road, Novaliches, Quezon City and Robert Sanchez of Unit 7, Villa Senera Townhomes, Novaliches.

Police said that at 11 p.m., the three victims arrived at an eatery near the house of one Marivic de Vera at Phase 4, Matrixville Subdivision in Camarin.

As they passed a parked red Mitsubishi Pajero (UHE-718), the vehicle’s security alarm sounded. This prompted Marcelo and Sanchez, who were reportedly having a drinking spree inside De Vera’s house to go outside and check on the vehicle.

Police said the victims shouted invectives at the suspects following an argument. Irritated, the suspects, pulled out their guns and fired at the trio.

Marcelo and Sanchez, together with their host, fled after the incident aboard De Vera’s car, a blue Isuzu Crosswind (XAK-616).

Gonzales, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body died while being rushed to the Nodado Hospital. Abrian and Trillo, who also sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body, are now confined at the Jose Reyes Hospital and East Avenue Medical Center, respectively.

Found at the crime scene were 13 spent shells for a caliber .45 automatic, nine spent shells for a 9-mm handgun and a deformed slug.

Police recovered Marcelo’s wallet inside the abandoned Pajero. The wallet contained P7,500 in cash and several documents including a permit for a .45 automatic.

Borromeo said yesterday Marcelo has called up his office to arrange his surrender.
