Crackdown ordered vs fake diploma trade

-
Manila Mayor Lito Atienza has ordered the police to identify and close down unlicensed business establishments and those involved in illegal activities, particularly in the manufacture and sale of fake diplomas and other school documents.

Atienza said the crackdown would start in Recto, an area in Manila’s university belt known for fake marriage contracts, birth certificates and diplomas.

The mayor launched the drive following the arrest of two Recto-based traders involved in the manufacture and sale of fake documents.

Police identified the suspects as Tyrone Talapian, of 23 Legarda Street, Sampaloc, Manila and Randy Santos, of 27 Guillermo Street, Karuhatan, Valenzuela.

Police arrested the two at stall no. 5 of the Cartimar Building in C.M. Recto Avenue, Manila. Police also seized computers and other materials in the manufacture of fake documents.

The operation was conducted following reports that a group has been manufacturing fake diplomas and licenses from the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC). Cecille Suerte Felipe
