A 25-year-old man was stabbed dead the other night in Quezon City following his flippant remark he made to a drunk while waiting for a ride home.
Victim Alvin Buenaagua, of Diamond Drive, St. Francis Subdivision, Meycauayan, Bulacan, suffered a single stab wound in the body and was declared dead on arrival at the Sta. Teresita Hospital.
The suspect, Raymond Sabino, 24, was immediately arrested and is currently detained at the Central Police District headquarters awaiting filing of charges.
Police sources said Buenaagua and his cousin Giovanni Abejero were waiting for a passenger jeepney at 9 p.m. at the corner of Bonifacio Drive and Apo Street in Barangay Amoranto when a drunk Sabino passed by them.
Buenaagua, bothered by the smell of the liquor, said something against "people who drink" out loud. Sabino heard him and he immediately pulled out a bladed weapon.
Without warning, the suspect stabbed Bunaagua in the right side of the chest. The victim collapsed on the ground. Sabino tried to run away but barangay officials immediately apprehended him.
