Anti-smut groups to file case vs tabloid

Stop Trafficking Of Pilipinos Foundation (STOP) and the Philippine Alliance Against Pornography (PAAP), two anti-smut groups will file a complaint today, before the Manila City Fiscal’s Office against a tabloid for its publication of lewd articles and photos. They will be represented by lawyers Lorna Patajo Kapunan and Renato Evangelista.

The filing of the criminal complaints represents an escalation of efforts of anti-pornography groups to stop the proliferation of pornographic publications eroding the morals of society.

Tita Pilapil-Reverente, STOP and PAAP vice president, said the filing of the complaint would be the second her group has filed against a tabloid. Last May this year, a complaint for pornography was filed before the Makati City Fiscal’s Office.

Fr. Robert Reyes will officiate the 9 a.m. Mass, at the St. Vincent’s church in San Marcelino, Manila.

The group will then proceed to City Hall where they will hold a prayer assembly before Reverente and Aldo Filomeno, director of PAAP, will file their complaint with the Manila Fiscal’s Office.

They will be joined by other anti-porno support groups like Caritas Manila, Moral Recovery Program Youth Council, National Network Against Poverty and Corruption (CNN-APC), Pro-Life, GMA-7 by Rod Cornejo, Manila Standard by Romulo de Dios, Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Mandaluyong City police headed by Senior Superintendent Sukarno Ikbala and other PNP units, Evangelical Churches, and a host of other organizations.
